This is the brightest synchrotron source in the world, inaugurated 21 June 2016. MAX IV laboratory (formerly MAX-laboratory) is a Swedish national synchrotron radiation facility located in Lund, Sweden. It currently consists of three electron storage rings, MAX I, MAX II and MAX III that produce synchrotron light to be used in experiments of various fields of science such as physics, chemistry, biology, materials science, geology, engineering and medicine. MAX IV makes the invisible visible. MAX IV – the most modern synchrotron radiation facility in the world – enables researchers to study atoms and molecules that are only a few tenths of a nanometre in diameter, which provides completely new knowledge about the world and how it works. The SPECIES beamline is a soft X-ray undulator beamline on the 1.5 GeV storage ring at MAX IV Laboratory in Lund, Sweden. The beamline covers the photon energy range from 30 to 1500 eV with variable polarization.
